Tuesday, December 15, 2009, 11:24AM ET - U.S. Markets close in 4 hours and 36 minutes.
There's a lot of talk about the being the worst job market since the early 1980s, and worst housing market since the Great Depression. But what does that really mean?
Diane Garnick, investment strategist at Invesco, offers some perspective on the current downturn, based on the numbers:
The really bad news on the real estate front? The average family size is increasing as aging parents come to live with their children, and older adults are forced to move back in with their parents because of grim economic circumstances. The rising number of "multi-generational" households means there's an even larger number of "excess" homes on the market, and few buyers are willing or able to step in and sop up the supply.
These and other factors explain why Garnick doesn't believe President Obama's mortgage plan will really fix the housing crisis, and why she says there's a long way to go before the economy or stock market bottom.I really enjoy soft pillow talk here, don't you. I would love to throw a rotten tomato at the producer of this cast. Just kidding, Oh man, what are we going to do next to rock the streets? Give Frank a free Harley Day! SMILES and lots of soft puffy pillow talk, I love America.
Cancel your credit card before you die..........(hilarious!) Now some people are really stupid!!!! Be sure and cancel your credit cards before you die. This is so priceless, and so, so easy to see happening, customer service being what it is today. A lady died this past January, and Citibank billed her for February and March for their annual service charges on her credit card, and added late fees and interest on the monthly charge. The balance had been $0.00 when she died, but now somewhere around $60.00. A family member placed a call to Citibank. Here is the exchange : Family Member: 'I am calling to tell you she died back in January.' Citibank: 'The account was never closed and the late fees and charges still apply.' Family Member: 'Maybe, you should turn it over to collections.' Citibank: 'Since it is two months past due, it already has been.' Family Member: So, what will they do when they find out she is dead?' Citibank: 'Either report her account to frauds division or report her to the credit bureau, maybe both!' Family Member: 'Do you think God will be mad at her?' Citibank: 'Excuse me?' Family Member: 'Did you just get what I was telling you - the part about her being dead?' Citibank: 'Sir, you'll have to speak to my supervisor.' Supervisor gets on the phone: Family Member: 'I'm calling to tell you, she died back in January with a $0 balance.' Citibank: 'The account was never closed and late fees and charges still apply.' Family Member: 'You mean you want to collect from her estate?' Citibank: (Stammer) 'Are you her lawyer?' Family Member: 'No, I'm her great nephew.' (Lawyer info was given) Citibank: 'Could you fax us a certificate of death?' Family Member: 'Sure.' (Fax number was given ) After they get the fax : Citibank: 'Our system just isn't setup for death. I don't know what more I can do to help.' Family Member: 'Well, if you figure it out, great! If not, you could just keep billing her. She won't care.' Citibank: 'Well, the late fees and charges will still apply.' (What is wrong with these people?!?) Family Member: 'Would you like her new billing address?' Citibank: 'That might help...' Family Member: ' Odessa Memorial Cemetery , Highway 129, Plot Number 69.' Citibank: 'Sir, that's a cemetery!' Family Member: 'And what do you do with dead people on your planet???' (Priceless!!) You wondered why Citi is going broke and need the feds to bail them out!!

Police state At various times after 1922, Mussolini personally took over the ministries of the interior, foreign affairs, colonies, corporations, defense, and public works. Sometimes he held as many as seven departments simultaneously, as well as the premiership. He was also head of the all-powerful Fascist Party and the armed local fascist militia, the MVSN or "Blackshirts," who terrorised incipient resistances in the cities and provinces. He would later form the OVRA, an institutionalised secret police that carried official state support. In this way he succeeded in keeping power in his own hands and preventing the emergence of any rival. Between 1925 and 1927, Mussolini progressively dismantled virtually all constitutional and conventional restraints on his power, thereby building a police state. A law passed on Christmas Eve 1925 changed Mussolini's formal title from "president of the Council of Ministers" to "head of the government." He was no longer responsible to Parliament and could only be removed by the king. While the Italian constitution stated that ministers were only responsible to the sovereign, in practice it had become all but impossible to govern against the express will of Parliament. The Christmas Eve law ended this practice, and also made Mussolini the only person competent to determine the body's agenda. Local autonomy was abolished, and podestas appointed by the Italian Senate replaced elected mayors and councils. All other parties were outlawed in 1928, though in practice Italy had been a one-party state since Mussolini's 1925 speech. In the same year, an electoral law abolished parliamentary elections. Instead, the Grand Council of Fascism selected a single list of candidates to be approved by plebiscite. The Grand Council had been created five years earlier as a party body but was "constitutionalised" and became the highest constitutional authority in the state. On paper, the Grand Council had the power to recommend Mussolini's removal from office, and was thus theoretically the only check on his power. However, only Mussolini could summon the Grand Council and determine its agenda.
America is in big trouble for lusting after material possessions...it's called coveting...we're a nation full of junk in our garages that sit there and rust away...we deserve this for our extreme barrowing on credit...and the housing debacle too....when a nations emotions are founded on materialism and suddenly the economy collapses if there's a huge quick bear rally then they pull out all the stops the nation will go into civil chaos...engineered and manipulated as such maybe???
The market is selling again to the downside, isn't that worth something?
in the european FT there is an article today........ well, it's all about the flexibility of US stats. and the market still buying all that BS. in other words they post a warning! don't believe the stats. eg. if unemployment would be counted like in middle europe, it would double the figure outright. we have to live with the real numbers and not a stats massage.
The stimulus money will start to put people back to work this summer but with real estate still too high in some areas, more declines are in store. That means more stimulus money will be needed before this is over. The only way to get to Republicans to vote for that will be to spend it on war toys---phallic-shaped bombs and missile for old white guys who can only dream.
Who cares about housing and unemployment numbers... We have 10,000 nukes. Use them all. Once the birds fly the housing and unemployment numbers won't matter ever again. End the suffering!
It means that THE so called LEADERS Have failed. It means that the so-0called economic systems have failed. It means that the so called governments have failed in their missions. For the future, it means that governments and other instutions that have now lost their legitimacy will not be able to enforce laws, collect taxes, or enact policies without encountering massive resistance form their citizenry. For the United States, it means that Barak Obama will not maintain the good will he enjoyed when he was elected. Once his poll numbers fall below 50% (some time in June, 2009), his effectiveness and ability to govern will drop to nearly zero. Economically, it means that people who own gold, weapons, and land will be the new elite, as 'civilization' crumbles from huge nation-states run by centralized governments to smaller-scaled, more local control.

Obama tell us the DETAILS already.
She mentions the 1st time home buyers credit.... why did they put a limit on that of 95,000 where it starts to phase out at 75,000..... i can afford to buy but when you eliminate my credit... i'll just keep on renting good job with that policy! and like she said the ones that make below that many can't afford to buy their first house yet... = nothing in savings.....
